Meet Bunker our mascot! Bunker is our lab/pit mix puppy we just adopted at seven weeks old in April! Bunker lives adjacent to a golf course. He enjoys sitting in a chair on our back patio and watching the golfers tee off on the hole behind our house. Bunker also enjoys riding in the golf cart with his family. While he doesn’t mind riding for a few holes of golf, he prefers to cruise around the neighborhood. At almost four months old Bunker’s favorite activity is to torment his human brother and sister. He loves to chase his humans through the house, kick them off the furniture he isn’t supposed to sit on, and chew their shoes. We’re working on behavior modification for both the human children and the puppy. It’s a process, but hopefully we’ll all be better behaved in a few months.
Bunker was named by our nine-year-old, who thought Bunker would be a good name for a golf course dog. Once the name was suggested it stuck and we started to look for our Bunker. I wasn’t in a hurry as we still weren’t settled into our new home and we had only been without a pet for six months. While looking at Facebook I found a post looking for good homes for their “oops” litter. I saw the little faces and knew that it was time to go get a puppy. When I asked my husband if we should go look and if we felt ready for a new puppy, he responded with a “Will we ever ready for a new puppy?” (It’s true… the puppy is exhausting and we’re finally sleeping through most nights at 3 ½ months.) When we went to look at these puppies we found out it was a littler of 14! We found a cute, adorable little guy who loves belly rubs. In addition to looking cute and lovable he can also be “Bat Dog”! Bat Dog comes out when he’s overtired and refuses to nap. Just think of any overtired toddler throwing a tantrum, add in some shark teeth and you get Bat Dog!
We’re lucky Bunker actually responds to his name as we have given him many nicknames over the last two months. The most common nicknames tend to be: Bunks, Bunky, Bunk the Punk, and Bat Dog.
